Hard Case - Waiting For My Ship To Come In
Hard Case are from Belfast and formed in 2008/9 with members previously having played with a number of bands including The Violent Fuckwits, The Troubles, The Spastic Dockters, Runnin' Riot and Gods, High Speed Steel. The line up features Billy Riot (vocals), Mike Kerr (lead guitar/backing vocals), Barzo Steel (bass/backing vocals), Ryan (guitar) and Sprouley (drums). You'll now also find several of them in my new favourite band, Takers & Users whilst Billy Riot is in psychobilly outfit Madhouse.
Their first release was the 2009 Ain't No Hiding ep. This was followed in 2011 by the limited edition single, I'm Here For The Ginge and debut album Not Right In The Head. There's since been 3 singles, Waiting For My Ship To Come In, Battered, Bruised Belfast Born "N" Bred and the tribute to Runnin' Riot vocalist Colin Riot, Oi Oi He Was A Belfast Boy.
My pick of the bunch, featuring co vocals from Colin Riot's partner Nikki Thoms, this is Waiting For My Ship To Come In.....
Quick plug.... if you like oi music, there's a special just some punk songs show at 8pm uk time on Sunday 6th November. It's in collaboration with the Church Of Oi Facebook group and will feature a mix of old oi classics and new songs. No Thrills - Jimmy
Back to Northern England for today's update and a song from No Thrills who are a punk rock band from Penrith in Cumbria. They've been together since 1998 and were originally a 5 piece comprised of members from a number of local bands. There's been numerous line up changes down the years and they currently boast the talents of Pez (vocals), Jamie "Jeeves" Ayers (guitar/backing vocals), Dan "The Ox" Oxley (bass/backing vocals) and Steve Harrison (drums).
Bands they've supported include the likes of Dead Kennedys, UK Subs, Damned, Cockney Rejects, Control, Vice Squad and The Lurkers. They've released 3 studio albums, Sally's Seven Deadly Hymns, Off The Rails and Us Against 'Em All as well as a 23 track diy album recorded in their rehearsal room called It's What's Inside. They've recently been recording a new album and have numerous gigs planned including support slots for 999 and The Anti Nowhere League plus an appearance at The Rebellion Festival in Blackpool.
One of the tracks from It's What's Inside, this is the infectiously upbeat Jimmy....

The Hypnic Jerks - Zombies

Their first release was a s/t 6 track ep in 2008 and this was followed up in 2013 with the Stay Home album. You can check them out here : https://hypnicjerks.bandcamp.com/
Last May they were in the studio working on a new album, Lost In Love, but I'm not sure when it'll see the light of day though Pat and Tony been keeping busy as members of The Parasites.
From Stay Home, this is Zombies.....
IT WASN'T AS BAD AS IT LOOKS
AND IT WASN'T AS LAME AS IT FEELS.
YOU CAN EAT ME ALIVE, HOW COULD I SURVIVE THROUGHOUT THIS PAINFUL ORDEAL.
YOU CAN START WITH THE FINGERS AND TOES,
YOU CAN GNAW YOUR WAY THROUGH TO THE BONE.
BUT THE LOOK ON YOUR FACE SAYS IT ALL IN THIS PLACE I CAN TELL THAT TONIGHT WE'RE ALONE.
WOULD YOU BELIEVE IF ZOMBIES WALKED THE EARTH?
NOW THAT THERE'S NO ONE AROUND,
WE CAN MINDLESSLY SCOUR THE GROUNDS.
IN SEARCH OF A MEAL OR SOME BRAINS WE CAN STEAL BUT NOBODY'S MAKING A SOUND.

The Moans - Tamara's Got A Problem
The Moans are a Californian 3 piece pop punk band who's members are from Lodi, Stockton and Sacramento. The line up of Matt (Bennett) Crap (vocals/bass), Jeff (Hollandsworth) Reset (drums/vocals) and Danny Secretion (guitar/vocals) are also in a number of other bands (The Crappys, Hit Reset, The Secretions to name just 3) whilst Matt is also head honcho of Outloud! Records.
Formed from the ashes of Ramones tribute band The Shitty Ramones back in 2011, they sing about cannibals, zombies, ghost ships, graverobbers from outer space and demonic possession and have thus far released an album (From Underground), a split 7" with The Hung Ups and an ep (Arrested For Possession). You can check them out here : http://themoans.bandcamp.com/
They recently had a new song called Hey Jamie Lee featured on the Outloud! Records First Four Years sampler and you can snap that up here : https://outloudrecords.bandcamp.com/album/the-first-four-years
This was on the split 7" and I'm fairly confident in saying it's about the Russian pensioner Tamara Samsonova who would kill, cook and eat a number of people over a period of 2 decades. It's called Tamara's Got A Problem.....

MFB - World War III
I feel I should know what MFB stands for, or at least make more than a cursory effort to find out. Thing is though, it's 3.23 am as I write this and I've given up trying to sleep as I'm burning up with a fever and a hacking cough. If it does stand for something then feel free to add it to the comments section.
What I do know about them (ie, what I can find out without trying too hard) is that they're a street punk/skate punk influenced thrashcore outfit from Hayward, California. They've been together since 2013 and have already released a heap of stuff that you can check out on bandcamp..... http://mfbforthewin.bandcamp.com/
The song posted below was one of the first that they wrote, it was on their debut ep, Offend Pop Punk and also on the Get Fucked! album. Playing on this track (I think) are Julian Treviso (vocals/guitar), Mitchell Tom (drums), Santiago Mariscal (bass/vocals) and Haeden Richart (guitar/vocals) though nowadays the line up appears to have slimmed down to just Julian, Mitchell and new bassist "Shoeless" Shane. Apparently, new music is in the pipeline.
Even though I'm feeling lousy, this still sounds great. It's called World War 111....
I pledge allegiance to the flag
Thats what they say and what they brag
“America, all above, number one we’ll overcome”
Theres not anything that we cant do
Dont fuck with us or well get you
Syria well bomb your ass, just because we fucking can
We’re going into World War III
This is the end of you and me
Nuclear holocaust will be the end
And I cant wait till were all dead
Been going on for far too long
Why cant we see that this is wrong
Killing people everyday
Doing it the american way
Always in a fucking war
Lets kill them all and settle the score
We’re going into World War III
This is the end of you and me
Nuclear holocaust will be the end
And I cant wait till were all dead
I pledge allegiance to the flag
Thats what they say and what they brag
“America, all above, number one we’ll overcome”
Theres not anything that we cant do
Dont fuck with us or well get you
Syria well bomb your ass, just because we fucking can

Brutal Youth - 53°
Forming in 2010 following the demise of Class War Kids (who were a wonderful band themselves : http://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/the-class-war-kids-reflection-rage.html), Brutal Youth are from Toronto, Canada.
They took their name from a 1994 album by Elvis Costello but their sound is rather more hard edged than that might suggest. The line up features Paddy O'Lantern (vocals), Greg (guitar), Kyle (bass) and Kaitlyn (drums).
2010 saw the release of debut album Spill Your Guts and this was followed by a split with Montreal band Tightrope. 2013 saw them unleash the Stay Honest album and their most recent offering was last years Bottoming Out ep. You can check them all out (along with covers of 7 Seconds and Gorilla Biscuits classics) here : http://brutalyouth.bandcamp.com/.
From Stay Honest, here's a track you can sing along to.........
The lights bring me back every single time. Green lines blurred across a starlit sky, and I reassess but don’t change my mind I know I made the right choice. Blanket the hills, bury the dead, the same one thought echoes and then whispered replies from bitter winds “this city hates you too.” As I lay down this throbbing head I hear the words repeat themselves. Don’t listen to a word they’ve said, they’ll never know. I guess some people never change. Some things will always stay the same. With nowhere to go and no one to blame, accept yourself. I guess some people never change and some things will always stay the same, but I won’t forget that one refrain “don’t forget to stay true to yourself.”

Criminal Damage - Anxiety
Criminal Damage are a punk rock/oi band from Portland, Oregon who have released 3 great albums on Feral Ward Records (s/t, 2006; No Solution, 2007; Call Of Death, 2013) and who feature members of bands such as Tragedy, His Hero Is Gone, Walls and Deathreat. Members include Crystal Fisher (drums), Kevin Purcell (bass/backing vocals), Paul Burdette (guitar/vocals) and Tom Wassum (guitar/backing vocals).
Early on they drew lots of comparisons with legendary British band Blitz, the order of the day is catchy, melodic punk rock that wouldn't have sounded out of place back in the early '80's.
From their Call Of Death album, this is Anxiety......

Cavaverman - James Dean
One way to help keep my enthusiasm high for updating this blog every day is that I don't usually know which song I'm going to go with until I actually sit down to post the latest entry. If I hear anything I really enjoy (be it new or old), I'll save the video in my favourites and then post it up pretty much straight away. The drawback with this is that I've a hell of a long list of songs I want to use that got overlooked as I heard something else that demanded my attention.
Also, occasionally people send me messages on Google Hangouts. As I only ever venture on there if a notification pops up there's a chance I'll miss those messages (especially if, as in the case of a message sent by Gio from Cavaverman last December, it for some reason goes to the spam folder).
So to kill 2 birds with one stone, today's update is a long overdue appearance by Cavaverman........
A 3 piece from Monza, Italy, featuring Sal Champion (guitar, vocals, Garand M1), Apocalypse Gio (bass, wrestling) and Doktor Hell (drums, drill), Cavaverman are a "Zombie Hunter Horror Punk" band. Hazarding a guess they're influenced by The Misfits and by far too many obscure horror movies. There's a lot of bands with the same influences but not many that sound as good as these guys.
They released their debut album, James Dead, in 2013 and it's packed with awesome songs with titles like Welcome To Zombieland, She's A Werewolf and Prince Of Darkness. The following year they gave it a tweak and renamed it James Dead Again. Ideal listening for any forthcoming Halloween parties, both versions feature a zombiefied James Dean on the cover and are available, as is their 8-Bit From Hell ep, as free downloads here : https://cavaverman.bandcamp.com/.
They're currently working on album number 2 but whilst we wait for it to crawl out of the grave, here's James Dean.......

Comrades - Lice Bingo
Do you think the songs in this blog are a little too poppy, maybe you'd prefer something a little noisier once in a while, then this could be the song for you. I'll add the lyrics as without them you'll be at a loss as to what the hell's going on. It sounds like the end of the world with everyone dying horribly. Bloody good it is too.
Comrades are New York City's finest crust/folk/ska/punk tribe, they previously featured in this blog last year ( http://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/comrades-cats-not-cops.html) and they're back again due to the release of their new video (a video that'll go down well with any skaters amongst you).
Taken from their excellent We Got This!!! album (https://comradescollective.bandcamp.com/album/we-got-this-2) (http://antiauthority.bigcartel.com/product/comrades), this is Lice Bingo........
They gave you a funeral, but not a wake your asleep and you don't realize how much they take from your soul just another hole to fill with empty promises and words and every dollar that you spend is one more that you have to earn, it's an endless cycle no one learns.
Yo requerdo risa
as the cities burned
Yo requerdo risa
at the end of the world
bad habbbits bad habbits bad habbits getting worse
self serenading rainy days
lying facedown in the dirt
my friends say i should get some help
but getting better just feels worse
Yo requerdo risa
as the cities burned
Yo requerdo risa
at the end of the world
brutish tendancies lead me away from anticipating, affectionate nights, new conversations, with hope continoulsly deflating that anyone can fathom rewiring, undomesticating we're all wrong wrong and backwards leaving books unread, smiles turned down, knives unsharpened and brains unfed, you'd say i'm not a hero for anything worthy on the side of the road beat up anxious and dirty

Throwing Stuff - Steve's Job
"Too punk for hardcore, too hardcore for punk," Throwing Stuff are a UK band which has members from Manchester (Kieran, Jamie), Liverpool (Alun) and London (Ben). Adding some humour to the often serious world of hardcore punk rock, they released their debut album, TSFU, in 2013. Short for Throwing Stuff Fuck You, it featured 9 tracks with titles like Napalm Death Fuck You and Throwing Jelly as well as a raucous cover of Joni Mitchell's Big Yellow Taxi. You can snap it up "name your price" here : http://throwingstuff.bandcamp.com/.
They also did a split ep with Blackpool emo punks Boston Manor.
From the album, this is Steve's Job......
I want to smash my face into this fucking desk
Living for the weekend life, it's such a mess
Get up early, go home late
Living the life we love to hate
Said you never wanted that 9-5
Shame you've got to eat to survive
I want to crush this mouse inside my fucking fist
Eating cake on Friday there's no solace for this
Get up early, go home late
Living the life we love to hate
Said you never wanted that 9-5
Shame you've got to eat to survive
Fuck your job
Fuck your boss
Fuck casual Friday's
Fuck the lot.

The Dubtones - All Systems Failing
Today's update is from Dublin ska-punk band The Dubtones. The trio (Whelo - vocals/guitar, Gipo - bass/vocals and Stanto - drums) originally started life as a 4 piece in 2005. Influenced by the likes of The Clash, The Specials, The Ruts and The Jam, their first release was 2006's One For The Road mini album. By the time they recorded debut album (2010's End Of Transmission), they'd slimmed down their line up but they still had the same blistering sound.
Gig wise, they've always been very active and have supported an impressive list of top bands (The Beat, Bad Manners, Rancid, The Members, The Damned, Selecter, The Lurkers, The Vibrators, Menace, The Outcasts etc....).
2013 saw the release of the Asylum mini album which to these grizzled old ears was even better than their impressive early material. From that disc, this is All Systems Failing.....

The Riots - One Seven Wonders
"The Riots are one of the most exciting Mod bands I have heard in years" - Pete Mitchell (Absolute Radio)
"These modern boys are the spirit of a 17 year old Paul Weller unleashed on the streets of Moscow" - Stephen Hughes (The Mod Generation)
"The Riots hands down are THE best mod/pop rock band on the planet right now (and believe me, I listen to them ALL!). Style, soul, agression, amazing guitar work and the key element that seperates these guys from the pack...songwriting skills that stand up to anything Weller and Marriott churned out in their prime" - Warren Peace (DJ/host of the "We Are The Mods" Radio Show)
"The Libertines meets the Jam with powerful distorted guitars" - Matchbox Radio 24
"Passion and attitude. The Riots have them both in abundance. I've been listening to their music a lot recently and it warms my heart! The promise of a better future is out there....onwards and upwards!" - Terry Shaughnessy of The Universal...........
High praise indeed and to be honest I haven't heard enough by the band yet to comment on how deserving that praise is but I will say that the song posted below is a damn fine one.
The Riots are from Prem, Russia and have been together since 2009. Featuring Sasha Bolotov (vocals, guitar), Alex Sharin (vocals, drums) and Kirill Usachev (vocals, bass), they share a love of mod, new wave and power pop which they aim to promote throughout their native country and abroad. They previously tasted success under the name The White Trainers Community (you can check a song out from them here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYYlwwAwjz0),
but that incarnation imploded due to "logistical pressures." Luckily they weren't to be deterred and inspired by time spent in London they were soon back stronger than ever.
So far they've released a handful of singles (Dance On Your Problems... Out Of Control... Truncheons, Shields And Size 10 Boots...One Seven Wonders... Take No Prisoners) as well as an album, Time For Truth which received rave reviews and quickly sold out.
With new material on the horizon, now is an ideal time to check these guys out ( https://soundcloud.com/theriotsband ) This is the title track of the single that came out in 2013 on Time For Action Records, One Seven Wonders.....

Housewives - lick the pip
A song today by a 5 piece from Sydney who feature members from Ghastly Spats (Lincoln Brown, Heather Swan) and Teen Ax (Sam Chiplin) plus Will Harley and Dean Adam. Housewives got together with the intention of starting a punk band in which they could channel their love of the old Killed By Death Records' sound into something exciting and new. With a reputation for chaotic, booze fuelled shows they released a single a couple of years ago on R.I.P. Society Records which featured the tracks Special Power, Who Am I, That's Chat and Lick The Pip. Aside from that I know pretty much nothing about them but I do know that Lick The Pip is a hell of a track. Fast, raw, wonderfully obnoxious vocals, play it loud.........

Biffers - Bubblegum
As promised, here's the second of this weekend's tunes from Italy. I suppose this one most definitely can be filed under the heading of bubblegum punk.
Biffers hail from Livorno, a port city on the western coast of Tuscany. Forming in 2009, originally as a 4 piece, they're now comprised of Dario (vocals/guitars/harmonica), Tommi (drums/bass/backing vocals) and Pasquale (bass/backing vocals), they took their name from Back To The Future's Biff Howard Tanner. Their self produced debut album, Whoa!, was picked up last year by Kung Fu Records and you can check it out here : http://biffers.bandcamp.com/releases
From that album, here's a feel good song that'll be rattling around in your head for the rest of the day, it's called Bubblegum.......

Cyanide Pills - Waiting (For You to Call Me)
Leeds' Cyanide Pills were one of the first bands to appear in this blog, and as I noticed that their most recent single had just made an appearance on Youtube I thought that now would be a good time to give them another shout out. If you aren't familiar with their brand of catchy Buzzcocks/Briefs inspired pop punk then you really are missing out, I'm not exaggerating when I say that they're victims of their time. If they were releasing these records back in the golden era of punk they'd have had a string of top 40 hits by now. 2014 has been spent recording their highly anticipated 3rd album and they've been busy gigging (they've recently completed a successful tour of Spain). To tide us over whilst we wait for the new material, this is a song that came out last November on Damaged Goods Records, it's called Waiting (For You To Call Me) and it's great......

The Socials - Go Vermont
Another cracking slice of modern garage/post punk today, this time from "no-fi rock n roll soldiers" The Socials. Featuring Julie Social aka Mrs Communication (vocals/guitar), Juice by Jerry (drums/vocals) and Shawn Abnoxious (bass), the band are from Cincinnati, Ohio and have been around in one form or another since 1992 (the current incarnation coalescing in 2000). Influenced by a variety of bands, including X Ray Spex, Flipper, Television, The Police, Off! and Queens Of The Stone Age, they describe their music as "the soundtrack to everything falling apart..." Despite their "veteran" status, it was 2013 before their first vinyl release saw the light of day, their previous releases on cd and demo are pretty much impossible to get hold of nowadays. Described by Half-Gifts blog as "Exemplifying everything I love about punk" The Beast Bites ep is a 4 track, 7 inch delight. From that debut vinyl platter and featuring a killer herky jerky bass and top notch female vocals this is Go Vermont....
(Quick update : the band have posted a couple of releases on bandcamp and you can find them here : http://socialssr.bandcamp.com/album/new-vibrations-of-light-2 )

Flying Over - Outsiders
From Bordeaux, France, and sporting names such as Jet Boy, Jet Girl, Gun Boy and T Boy, Flying Over have been purveyors of quality '77 inspired garage punk since 1996. As well as a handful of killer singles, they've also released 3 albums, a debut in 2004 called Rocking Frenchies, 2010's No One Here Gets Out Alive and last years We Are Outsiders. If you like your punk to be fun, spiky blasts of energetic rambunctiousness, lend them your ear. you'll love 'em. From their latest album, here's the title track, Outsiders.......

The Inserts - Komm Her!
Most of the music in this blog seems to emanate from either the UK or the USA, I do include music from the rest of the world (off the top of my head this includes the likes of France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Denmark Australia, Spain, Japan and no doubt a few other places which have slipped my memory) but I should try harder to find more (I'm open to suggestions so if you're in Greenland, Cuba or The United Arab Emirates etc and you know of a killer punk band (I need to like them to add them so if our tastes differ don't get offended if your favourite band don't get added!) please let me know).
An example of a killer punk band from "the rest of the world" would be The Inserts, an all girl group from Berlin who formed on New Years Eve 2009 following the demise of a band called Crumpets. After a few line up changes they now feature Elli Aperol (vocals), Nanke The Anchor (bass), Gabriale Fatale (guitar) and Maschina Acidwitch (drums), the band released a debut ep in 2013 and you can listen to it in it's entirety here : http://hundemannrecords.bandcamp.com/album/komm-her-ep
As you'll notice, there's a strong 1977 vintage punk influence, which can only ever be a good thing in my opinion. My knowledge on the band isn't great, as far as I know they're managing to gig fairly regularly but I've no idea when new material will be forthcoming (so if anyone in the know would like to add more in the comments that'd be great). From the ep, this is the title track Komm Her! I think it's great......

Idiot Talk - Girls Hate Me
This week I seem to have been zipping back and forth between the USA and Britain with my updates and I think that even though there's a decent amount of quality music from elsewhere in the world in this blog, I really should try a little harder to find and then post more. Today I can do that as I've been slapped around the face by a great self titled album from Idiot Talk. I know very little about them; they're from Lille, France. It's claimed that they play 80's hardcore punk rock with some '77 hints (though to me they just seem to grab all the best bits of punk music, the upbeat tempo, the power, the catchy tunes, the enthusiasm etc and blend them all together into something infectious that leaves you gagging for more). A demo in 2010 was followed up the following year by the release of a self titled ep which you can get free here : http://buildmeabombrecords.bandcamp.com/album/self-titled-ep-2 . 2011 also saw the release of a split ep with Germany's Napoleon Dynamite. Taking things up a level, 2013 brought us the aforementioned st album which is also free.... http://buildmeabombrecords.bandcamp.com/album/self-titled
This song is called Girls Hate Me and it's gonna get you off your ass and bouncing round the room whilst grinning like a loon.....

Galactic Cannibal - Hate Everything More
Today I'm posting a shouty, upbeat helping of gruff pop punk from Milwaukee based Galactic Cannibal. Featuring Direct Hit vocalist Nick Woods and also including Peter J Woods, Andy Slania, Penis Ryan and Steve Maury, the band released one of last years best (and most highly praised) albums, We're Fucked. Is pop punk a little too soft for you? maybe hardcore is too heavy and doesn't have enough of a hook? Galactic Cannibal combine a little of both genres and the results are a slap in the face that'll leave you grinning. This is the hyper Hate Everything More, you can get a demo version of it free here : http://galacticcannibal.bandcamp.com/track/hate-everything-more
