I think it's fair to say that there's been plenty of exciting new Australian bands posted on here in recent times. Today you're getting a band that have influenced many of them.
Hailing from Melbourne, Cosmic Psychos (https://www.facebook.com/cosmicpsychos) formed in 1982 as Spring Palms before changing their name a couple of years later. As well as being one of the country's most influential acts, they're also one of the most successful. They mix "arty punk noise" and pub rock and you can check out a bunch of their releases here : https://cosmicpsychos.bandcamp.com/music
They've a new album on it's way, it'll be titled Mountain Of Piss and it's due out on their own label, Go The Hack Records, on July 9th. You can pre order it here : http://www.cosmicpsychos.com.au/ To celebrate the release, the band will host a Worldwide Livestream Event on July 1 before hitting the road for a bunch of tour dates in August.
I played the title track on a recent Just Some Punk Songs show when they released it as a video with "guest appearances" from a couple of the bands that have been influenced by them; Amyl And The Sniffers & The Chats (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUj5avQPoGM&t=9s).
Now they ramp up expectations even higher with a brand new single. Lining up with Ross Knight (vocals/bass), John McKeering (guitars/vocals) and Dean Muller (drums), they've unleashed a beast of a song. It's a "beer soaked dig at dickhead sporting culture." It's called Sin Bin and it's by a bunch of old dogs who are still teaching the kids a few new tricks...
