Varukers - Eyes Of A Killer

The Varukers are one of the early pioneers of D-beat. Forming in Leamington Spa in 1979, their heavy sound and political lyrics saw them gain plenty of fans and along with the likes of Discharge and GBH they took the basic punk sound and moved it in a heavier direction. They split for a couple of years at the end of the 80's but it wasn't long before they were again a going concern. There's been plenty of line up changes down the years but one constant is vocalist Anthony "Rat" Martin. Another long serving member is guitarist Ian "Biff" Smith. Rat is also a member of Discharge whilst Biff graces Sick On The Bus. The current line up also features Brian Ansell (bass) and Kevin Frost (drums).

They featured on here previously with a golden oldie ( http://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.co.uk/2014/08/the-varukers-how-do-you-sleep.html ) but are back today with a stand out track from recent album Damned And Defiant. Many bands that are approaching their 40th year could be forgiven for taking a pipe and slippers approach and just going through the motions. That certainly isn't the case here. The album is as hard hitting (musically) and relevant (lyrically) as ever. You can order it here : http://www.thevarukers.com/shop.htm

This is Eyes Of A Killer.....
