Luxury Apartments - Dicks Hate The Police

  A brief history lesson.

Back in 1980, a punk band from Austin, Texas called The Dicks released a classic protest song sung from the perspective of an unhinged cop. It was called The Dicks Hate The Police. You should already know and love it but just in case :  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLd2LB4-6co

Mommy, mommy, mommy
Look at your son
You might have loved me
But now I've got a gun
You'd better stay out of the way
I think I've had a bad day
Had a bad day
I've had a bad day

Daddy, daddy, daddy
Proud of his son
He's got him a good job
Kills n*****s and Mexicans
I'll tell you something, and it's true
You can't find justice, it'll find you
Yeah, it'll find you
Yeah, it'll find you

People tell policemen
They've met their match
They planted on desert sand
The Dicks were hatched
Dicks hate policemen and it's true
You can't find justice, it'll find you
Yeah, it'll find you
Yeah, it'll find you
Maybe you once loved me
But now I've got a gun
You'd better stay out of my way
Hey! I've had a bad day
I've had a bad day
Mommy, I've had a bad day
Oh, I've had a bad day
Mommy, I've had a bad day

Fast forward 45 years and London band Luxury Apartments (https://www.facebook.com/luxuryapart) have released a mighty fine cover version.

Dark Thoughts - Mike's Dream

Regular Just Some Punk Songs visitors may know of my love for Philadelphia trio Dark Thoughts. They've featured on here several times in the past and despite not releasing an album since 2019 they popped up last year with a song that featured on an international benefit compilation album titled No Occupation: Another Benefit for Mutual Aid in Gaza.

That song (https://justsomepunksongs.blogspot.com/2024/06/dark-thoughts-bubbles-gonna-burst.html) proved that even after a few years away they were still as good as ever. It was titled Bubble's Gonna Burst and it resurfaces on the band's newly released 4th album.

The album's called Highway Till The End and as per usual it's a fat free sonic delight. It's available on vinyl via Stupid Bag Records (US) and Drunken Sailor Records (UK/EU) and as a name your price download :

This song is called Mike's Dream...
